Welcome to Trevelyan PTFA
The PTFA is a dedicated group of parents, carers, volunteers and school staff who organise and support a number of events throughout the school year. Our aim is to make school an even more engaging experience for students and their families by creating a sense of community and fun. We raise extra funds too. Money raised by the PTFA is intended to provide those ‘extras’ not supported by the school’s public funding – often the fun things that make learning more interesting and exciting for the students.
Funding priorities are decided by the Trevelyan PTFA members jointly with the school. Over the years that has provided much-needed items such as computers, playground equipment, school minibuses and more. Moreover, unlike primary schools, middle schools do not run a network of class representatives. Thus, the PTFA is also the activity hub helping parents get to know each other and strengthen their links with the school, teachers and support staff. We welcome all parents, grandparents, carers, friends and volunteers to be part of the PTFA and the school community.
Where do funds go?
During the 2019-2020 Academic Year the PTFA has managed to generate a total income of £21860 from the regular fundraising events, starting with the Annual Fireworks (in the last term day of October), the Christmas themed activities (wreath making workshop, Christmas Trees scheme, etc), Swimathon, the Spring Fair, etc. etc.
The funds were used to cover the costs for the minibus, math equipment and subscriptions, school hall decorations and various other equipment.
In the 2020-2021 Academic Year the generated income was in total of £10010 due to limited fundraising events as a consequence and restrictions during pandemic.
The funds were used for the “Covid impact fund” to partly support the cost of school residential, school equipment and subscriptions.
The 2021-2022 Academic Year saw a good recovery, with a total generated income of £17120.
The funds were used for the table tennis tables installed on school premises, Leavers event, County Lines project, painting the school mural, Y5 residential and World Book Day prizes.
In the 2022-2023 Academic Year the total generated income remained at similar levels as the previous year, from a reduced number of events due to the limited number of volunteers. The list of fundraising events included the annual Fireworks, the Swimathon, Christmas-themed events, Spring Fair, Movie Night, etc.The funds were used for school equipment and subscriptions, Y8 leavers project, Y5 Campout, County Lines project, FoodTech and others.
In the 2023-2024 Academic Year the total generated income remained at similar levels as the previous years from a reduced number of events due to the very limited number of volunteers.The list of fundraising events included the annual Fireworks, Movie Night, Open Days, Preloved Uniform Sales etc.
The funds were used for school equipment and subscriptions, Y8 leavers project, Y5 Campout and others.
How Do I Get Involved? Your Helping Hands Make A Big Difference
There are many different ways you can help with the PTFA, whether you have lots of time to offer or not. If you can’t commit to a big role, look out for smaller contributions like running a stall at the disco or a fair, baking for a cake sale or sorting prizes for a raffle. And of course, you can always support PTFA events by simply coming along.
