School Rules and How Not To Break Them

Good discipline makes sure that the school runs smoothly at a practical level.

Our rules are kept to a minimum and are there for everyone's safety and protection. Everyone is expected to know them and have the self-discipline to follow them.

General

  1. Behave as expected at all times, including going to and from school. You are expected to behave always in a sensible and polite manner.
  2. School Uniform must be worn and your appearance should always be of a high standard.
  3. You must never threaten, bully or hit anyone. If you feel threatened, tell a teacher or your form tutor.

Late or Absent

  1. If you arrive in school after school starts, you must report to the School Office.
  2. If you have been absent, you must give an absence note from you parents or guardian to your form tutor when you return. You should catch up with any work you missed.
  3. If you have permission for an out-of-school appointment during the school day, you must sign out at the School Office. When you return, you must sign back in again.

Around the School

  1. Never run along corridors.
  2. Keep to the left.
  3. Move quickly and quietly to lessons using the shortest route.
  4. Do not enter areas marked "out of bounds".
  5. Do not walk through the dining areas during lunchtimes.

In the Classroom

  1. Line up outside a classroom, without noise and in a single line. Your bag should be off your shoulder to keep the corridors clear.
  2. Enter in an orderly manner.
  3. Never go in a classroom, laboratory or workshop unless a teacher is there.

At Lunchtimes

  1. You must stay on the school site for lunch, unless you have permission from your form tutor.
  2. You may only eat in the areas set aside for that purpose.
  3. If you have school dinner, when the bell goes for your lunch sitting, then line up by the cycle racks (or wait in a single line in the corridor by the kitchens if it is raining).
  4. If you have packed lunches, then go straight to the Hall, or the outside areas reserved for picnics.
  5. Chewing gum is not allowed in school at any time.

Health & Safety

  1. Jewellery of any kind is not allowed.
  2. All personal possessions must be marked with your name.
  3. Do not leave valuables in cloakrooms or changing rooms. Lock them in your locker, or ask a teacher to look after them.
  4. If you lose anything, look in your classrooms and ask other people in your class. Tell your form tutor, and try Lost Property.
  5. If you want to cycle to school, you must get permission. Bicycles must not be ridden inside the school grounds.
  6. You must read the rules about Fire Drill and Safety Regulations, and obey them when necessary.
  7. If you need to bring medicine to school, hand it to the medical technician. It must be clearly labelled with your name, your form, the dosage and when it should be administered.
