Trevelyan Parent Teacher Association
The school's Parent Teacher Association has always been very active, not least in providing generous funding for things which the school could not otherwise afford.
Trevelyan PTA is a registered charity (1014549). Set up in 1967, it has made significant contributions to the School's facilities for children. More recent purchases include
- two interactive whiteboards for History and English - £2000
- radio microphones
- drama staging - £10000
- video camera
- steel drums - £1000
- the school mini-buses
- library refurbishment and books - £4000
- seats and benches for the playgrounds - £2500
- stage lighting
- a sound system
- video cameras
We provide grants and interest-free loans to the Pupil Council so that the children can decide and manage their school's improvements.
The PTA contributes to the way the school is run, providing ideas and feedback for how things are going. We also offer people-power for environmental projects and concerts and shows. As well as major fund-raising events (like the Summer Fair, Quiz Night and Discos), we also arrange social events for parents, children and whole families.
All parents and staff are automatically members of the PTA. The PTA Committee is elected every September. It includes four teachers elected from the staff, and the Headteacher as President, and meets once a month (but not in the holidays). All parents are invited to committee meetings.
