Taking Photos on Trips: Help for Staff
It's great to have pictures of school trips and events, so remember to take some school cameras with you if you go on one. Pupils and their families like to see photos of themselves, their friends and the people looking after them, and they are good for promoting the school.
To help you get the best pictures, suitable for publication on the school's website and elsewhere, please try and remember the hints and tips below.
- no single-pupil shots please — school policy is for two or more in a picture (and more is better)
- get fronts, not backs — sometimes not so easy to do
- put it in context — try and include some interesting background as well
- not too many posers — pictures of children doing something other than posing for a photo are more interesting
- capture the action — remember that the cameras let you take lots of pictures so make the most of them
- the whole group — if you can, take some group pictures to make sure everyone is included
- and finally, take a few scenery shots as well, for context again
If you've a set of pictures for the web, then ask AW to upload them for you. If there are lots, then pick out the best 20 or 30 or so. If you are logged on with web admin access, then you can upload them yourself.
