Modern Foreign Languages

We teach French to all our pupils, and we set out to equip all pupils to communicate personally and directly in the language.

Our Objectives

  1. To give our pupils sufficient sense of success in their learning to build up the confidence to 'have a go' in French.
  2. To provide a learning experience full of fun, enjoyment and direct personal involvement where their interest will be sustained over several years of study.
  3. To provide them with experience in the classroom of what to expect on the other side of the Channel, both in terms of cultural differences and the sort of language they might encounter.

Year 8

In Year 8 we start a new course, Métro 2.

  • Talking about what you have done using the past tense
  • Parts of the body, health, and at the pharmacy

Year 8 pupils also have the opportunity to go on our school trip to France.

Assessment

We make regular assessments throughout the year, using unit tests and assessment tasks.
