Design & Technology
Pupils experience a wide variety of materials and resources within their four years at Trevelyan, and are encouraged to go on a growing number of curriculum related visits to aid their study in the future.
Some pupils who have difficulty with manipulative skills are supported by the Special Needs Department within normal DT lessons.
Years 5 and 6
In years 5 and 6, pupils cover their basic skills in design and realisation in all subject areas, including
- Food
- Fabric
- Design
The safe handling of tools and equipment is given special priority.
Years 7 and 8
Years 7 and 8 follow various routes through the programmes of Study in the National Curriculum Key Stage 3. This includes Control Technology in the Year 8 syllabus.
Assessment
A comprehensive record of a pupil's progress is kept and passed on to our Upper School colleagues through the internal transfer procedure set up between Windsor schools.
