The Trevelyan Middle School Parent Teachers’ Association

Welcome to the Trevelyan Middle School Parent Teachers’ Association web page.

Any parent can volunteer to join the PTA which is made up of a dedicated group of parents and school staff who meet once a month to organise several fundraising events throughout the school year. These events support the school’s aims financially and culturally and help to create a real sense of community.

How is money spent?

Funds raised by the PTA are intended to provide those ‘extras’ not already provided by the school's main income – often the 'fun things' that make learning more interesting and exciting for the students.

The PTA Committee and Head of School decide how to spend PTA funds, which have bought much-needed items such as computers, playground equipment, school minibuses and more.

We meet once a month in the school staff room for an hour and are always looking for more parents and carers to join us to give their input, advice and help.

During the 2016-17 school year the PTA raised £7685, which was over £1,000 down on the previous year.

We used the funding in 2016-17 to contribute £5,000 towards the school's minibus fund, and a further  £3,469 for display boards, musical equipment, books and costumes.

The PTA organises:

  • The bonfire night fireworks display
  • Christmas Fair
  • Pupils’ discos
  • End of term leavers’ party
  • Refreshments at school productions and sports day

How can I be involved in my PTA?

There are many different ways you can help with the PTA, whether you have lots of time to offer or not. If you can't commit to a big role, look out for things you can do less frequently such a running a stall at the fair, baking for a cake sale or contributing prizes for a raffle. And you can always support PTA events by simply turning up.

If you would like to get involved or have any ideas you would like to contribute to school events, please contact PTA chair, Lizzie Edawrds, at

We look forward to meeting you.
