Parent Teacher Association

The Trevelyan Middle School Parent Teachers’ Association

Welcome to Trevelyan PTA

The PTA is a dedicated group of parents, carers and school staff who organise and support a number of events throughout the school year.  We aim to make school even more engaging for students and their families by creating a sense of community and fun. We raise extra funds too. Funds raised by the PTA are intended to provide those ‘extras’ not already provided by the school's main income – often the fun things that make learning more interesting and exciting for the students.

The Trevelyan PTA Committee and Head of School decide how to spend PTA funds, which have bought much-needed items such as computers, playground equipment, school minibuses and more. Unlike many primary schools, middle schools do not run a network of class representatives. Thus the PTA is the hub of activity helping parents to get to know each other and strengthen their links with the school, teachers and other staff. All parents, grandparents and carers are warmly welcome to be part of the PTA.

Where do funds go?

2017-18 Academic Year

During the 2017-18 school year the PTA raised over £14,000, which was an exceptional £6,000 up on the previous year.

We used the funding in 2017-18 to contribute £5,000 towards the school's minibus fund, and a further  £2,017.89 for math revision books and equipment, Design & Technology tools and materials, Eco club bottle greenhouse building materials and library furniture refurbishment. Together with the school we also co-sponsored a music therapy class for students.

2018-2019 Academic Year

Every year the PTA organises a number of events, all eagerly awaited by the students. Here are some key activities we plan to run this year:

  • The bonfire night fireworks display
  • Christmas fair
  • Pupils’ discos
  • Movie night
  • Refreshments at Christmas and Summer school productions and sports day
  • Easter egg tombola

We will continue to contribute to the School’s minibus fund and have three new events – the Quiz Night, Burns Night and Happy Circus – to help engage families and parents with the school community.

See the calendar on the school website for dates and times of upcoming events and the newsletters for more information.

How Do I Get Involved?

Your Helping Hands Make A Big Difference

There are many different ways you can help with the PTA, whether you have lots of time to offer or not. If you can't commit to a big role, look out for things you can do less frequently such a running a stall at the fair, baking for a cake sale or contributing prizes for a raffle. And you can always support PTA events by simply coming along.
